Tomáš, whom do you help? Individuals, adults, teenagers and children from about 5 years old. If necessary, I work with the whole family. I am a trained family counsellor.
How do you do it? We talk for 50 minutes. You are troubled by something and you come to talk about your worries and seek help. I listen to you and together we look for a solution that would work for you. I am not telling you what to do … you are the only one who knows that. But I help you to realise it, to bring your resources into play and find a way how to cope.
Am I supposed to tell you everything? It is up to you, actually you decide that yourself. The first meeting is always about getting to know one another. You come to see who I am and choose whether you want us to work together. If you do not feel comfortable I shall recommend you to another therapist. I know well myself what it is like to be in therapy and if the therapist does not suit me, I cannot open up and talk about real issues.
You have a therapist? Yes, now and then I need to clarify certain issues in my life and I find that therapy is the best way of finding a solution.
Who actually comes to you? Everybody. People troubled at work, at home or concerned about their children.
How much does this therapy cost? The hour costs 1 800 CZK for an individual. If you choose to use the ‘sand-tray’ method then I am confident we will only need a maximum of eight sessions. Most of the times it is three or four.
How come you do therapy in English? I have been speaking English for many years both at home and at work and find no difficulty to communicate clearly and quickly, so I am told. Actually, I speak English every day. Also I am used to being an interpreter at conferences and sometimes even during therapy sessions themselves.
Do you do any other therapeutic kind of work? Together with my colleagues we run meditation evenings for anybody who is interested. They are aimed towards growth and recharging.
Which words do you think characterise you? Compassion; soul; hope; mercy; humility; self-consciousness; kindness; sorry; silence; courage and laughter.
Tell me, what do you do in your spare time? I practice yoga four times a week and at the weekends explore Central and Northern Bohemia on my bicycle. I ride all year round – and usually end up in some tea-shop!
